Andy’s story
Andy grew up in the Midwest. At 18 he finished high school early and moved west to Bridger Bowl, Montana, then south to Driggs, Idaho, where he set up his home base on the west slope of the Teton Range. He honed his mountain and avalanche skills on Teton Pass, in Grand Teton National Park, and at Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee.
He has headed north to Alaska every spring since he was 21. He started as an apprentice heli-ski guide with Alaska Backcountry Adventures in 2007 and began lead guiding in 2009. After seven years splitting his winters between Japan and Alaska, he now guides for High Mountain Heli in Jackson and Valdez Heli-Ski Guides on Thompson Pass.
With more than 3,000 heli runs guided in the Chugach, Andy believes the best soul powder on the planet is found heli-skiing in Wyoming and Alaska — and he looks forward to sharing it with anyone who loves skiing and riding powder.
